How to Lose the Mommy Pouch (Loose Skin)

For a lot of women who have given birth, they develop something called a “mommy pouch.” Just what is it?

This is it:

Original source: here.

In other words, the body fat is low enough already, but there is still loose skin.

My mommy still blames me and my sister for her mommy pouch… 25 years later.

So how do you get rid of the mommy pouch?

First, make sure that your body fat is low enough. For a woman, if your body fat is above 20-22%, don’t even think of blaming the mommy pouch on loose skin. That’s fat (sorry… tough love). You would lose the fat the same way anyone would go about losing fat (sensible nutrition and exercise).

But let’s say that your body fat is truly low enough, and it really is loose skin that’s causing your mommy pouch.

What do you do?

Sadly, with loose skin, you can’t exercise it off and you can’t diet it off. You can gain a lot of body fat to fill out that loose skin, but I’m guessing that’s not quite what you’re looking for.

Fortunately, one supplement can help quite a bit: gotu kola. Gotu kola is an herb that helps your body get rid of excess connective tissue (that’s skin). That’s its off-label use. It’s mostly used for things like cognition, anxiety, and preventing scars, but it also works extremely well for tightening loose skin, so give it a try.

Quick Summary

  • After giving birth, women can develop a “mommy pouch.”
  • If you have over 20-22% body fat, work on getting rid of it.
  • If you have 20-22% body fat or less, that mommy pouch is loose skin.
    • Get rid of the loose skin by maintaining a healthy diet, exercising, and taking gotu kola.
